Hyperlocal reporting on newsworthy events in the Hudson Heights section of Manhattan.
As a frequent runner in Ft. Washington Park, I cringe every time I run through this section & have to see all the trash everywhere. It's as if we're in a third-world country! Not as if other parks in NYC are any better, but clearly because this is my neighborhood it literally hits close to home. I have written elected officials about the problem, the parks department & so on, to no avail, because ultimately it's human laziness & indifference that't the root cause, and litter is essentially an unenforceable crime.
Thanks for this post. I completely agree. I cringe each time a ride to work on Monday mornings.Organizing park cleanups isn't enough when the trash simply returns each weekend. We need some parks police who will enforce littering policies.Ugh.-Chris Rizzo
