Neighborhood resident Liz Ritter in the Temple Beth Am/Hebrew Tabernacle sukkah explaining the holiday of Sukkot to passersby.

On Sukkot, Jews are commanded to dwell in a Sukkah for 7 days.  Many people take the opportunity to eat meals (or enjoy a coffee break!) under the Sukkah, if not sleep there.  This Sukkah - located on Ft. Washington Ave at 185th Street is open for anyone to stop by and admire the fruits and other decorations hanging from the ceiling, gaze up through the roof to see the sky or just take a respite from the busy street!
