Sandy Volunteering and Donations

With Hudson Heights largely spared the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, many of us probably have the same helpless feeling of watching awful T.V. images from our own City while living comfortably with heat, electricity and little damage.  Here are some volunteering websites that are reputable:

• New York Red Cross
• Gothamist
• New York City Service (Operated by the Mayor's Office)

This blogger will probably focus his efforts over the next few weeks on cleanups of local parks, which were hard hit by the storm.  Registration for this weekend's cleanup in Northern Manhattan  is closed according to the web link I received. There is still space for Bronx cleanups at Van Cortlandt Park.
