Park's Resident Artist

For a couple of years I have jogged, walked and driven past a solitary artist painting landscapes in Fort Tryon.  Anyone passing through the park in the early evenings has probably seen him too, painting on large white canvases along the park drive.  Last night I finally decided to stop and ask for his story.

He is Marc Solomon, an artist and resident of Hudson Heights.  He picks different spots in the park and then creates a series of paintings of the same location--creating different perspectives on the same scene, sometimes through the changing seasons.  (If you see him, ask for one of his business cards, which contain an amazing sample of his work!)

You can see his work on display at the craft fair in early December at the Cornerstone Center on Bennett Avenue.
