Carla Zanoni reported this week on DNAInfo that the southern leg of Fort Tryon Park will receive a makeover from the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. She reports that this leg of the park is better known for muggings and drug activity than recreation.
The renovation is long overdue. But I've never heard of muggings or drug activity in this part of the park. The area is known, however, for gay men trolling for sex. Not a big deal unless you're one of those poor foreign tourists (kids in tow) who mistakenly hike into the area during a visit to the Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park.
