In December, the Manhattan Times reported that Community Board 12 recommended a denial of the state liquor license for the Monkey Room, a bar at 589 Fort Washington Avenue. This recommendation is advisory only and the New York State Liquor Authority, which licenses all bars, restaurants and stores in the state, can accept or reject that local recommendation.
Apparently the Authority has done just that, rejecting the Board's recommendation and renewing the license until December 31, 2012. Residents looking to prevent a renewal the next time around should go to http://www.abc.state.ny.us/ to find out how to submit complaints to the Authority.
