Also worth noting is the ongoing effort to stop LG Electronics from building a high-rise headquarters across the Hudson River in New Jersey. The proposed "eco-friendly" headquarters would become one of the tallest and most visible buildings across the river, towering over Palisades Interstate Park. Political Update
Mark Levine hosted a successful fundraiser at Le Cheile last night for his campaign to win the Democratic nomination for City Council. The only trouble--redistricting means that he is no longer running to represent Hudson Heights. The highly political redistricting commission has redrawn the districts to place "district 7" south of 165th Street and "district 10" to the north. If he wins, Mr. Levine will therefore need to move south to live within the new boundaries of District 7. And Ydanis Rodriguez will assume representation of Hudson Heights. The maps can be viewed here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dc/downloads/pdf/City_Feb6.pdf
